Every year, numerous lives are lost, with a disproportionate impact on women and children, due to preventable diseases. Uganda continues to grapple with a heavy disease burden, with Malaria, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), HIV, and various infectious diseases standing out as primary contributors.

Our disease prevention and management program encompasses critical themes of HIV and other infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and laboratory diagnosis. Our interventions are designed to empower communities and individuals with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to lead healthier lives and effectively address health challenges.

Our program takes a proactive stance in addressing infectious diseases, with a special emphasis on HIV. We implement up-to-date evidence-based prevention and treatment interventions for HIV and other infectious diseases following the burden. 

Through expert insights and capacity building, case studies, and educational resources, we strengthen systems and empower individuals to make informed choices that contribute to disease prevention and improved well-being.

We’re supporting local health systems to offer life-saving drugs to over 120,000 people Living with HIV in central Uganda, 6,314 are children and adolescents. 

Our program focuses on children and adolescents, we’re reaching over 40,000 children and adolescents with disease prevention and management services. 

Accurate diagnosis is the cornerstone of effective disease management. Our programs highlight the crucial role of laboratory diagnostics in early detection, monitoring, and treatment. At our national laboratory backup lab, We delve into cutting-edge diagnostic techniques, quality assurance practices, and advancements in technology that contribute to improved patient outcomes. In our communities, we support district laboratory systems to offer quality diagnostics and accreditation. 

Our Laboratory is ISO Accredited by SANHAS to provide quality testing. We’re supporting a network of 24 laboratories in central Uganda.

 

Non-communicable diseases are a growing global concern. Our program tackles NCDs head-on by providing information on risk factors, early detection, and effective management strategies. By promoting healthy lifestyles and working to improve the capacity of local systems to detect and manage NCDs in an effective way possible and reduce the burden of NCDs on households and society.

We’re working with over 112 Local health facilities and 12,000 community health workers to detect and manage NCDs.
