Promoting Inclusivity through Disability Prevention, Rehabilitation, and Social Inclusion

More than one billion individuals, constituting approximately 15% of the global population, grapple with some form of impairment. Alarmingly, over 80% of these disabled persons reside in low- and middle-income nations. In Uganda, a staggering 4.5 million individuals aged two and older experience diverse forms of disability. People with disabilities shoulder an inequitable share of the socioeconomic hardships experienced by vulnerable communities, and this disparity is particularly pronounced among children and adolescents.

Our program places a strong emphasis on fostering economic growth and stability within households. Through skill development, entrepreneurship training, and access to financial resources, we empower individuals to generate income, create opportunities, and break the cycle of poverty. By promoting economic independence, we contribute to healthier and more prosperous communities.

At the heart of our program lies the strengthening of community systems. By fostering collaboration among local organizations, governments, and stakeholders, we create a supportive environment that nurtures household livelihoods. Through capacity building, advocacy, and resource-sharing, we amplify the impact of our efforts and enhance the overall well-being of communities.

Gender equity and social protection are integral to our program’s mission. We strive to eliminate gender-based disparities and provide targeted support to vulnerable populations. By ensuring equal access to opportunities, resources, and protection, we work towards building a more inclusive and just society. Our focus on social safety nets and support systems further bolsters resilience and well-being.
