Nursing & Midwifery
Word from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Mildmay Institute of Health Sciences.
It is my pleasure to invite you to join a community committed to excellence in nursing and midwifery education, grounded in compassion, professionalism, and evidence-based practice. At MIHS, we recognize the critical role that nurses and midwives play in strengthening health systems and improving patient outcomes across Uganda and beyond.
Our programmes are designed to equip you with the knowledge, clinical skills, and ethical grounding required to thrive in today’s dynamic healthcare environment. Through a blend of classroom learning, simulation, and hands-on clinical placements, we ensure that our graduates are confident, competent, and responsive to real-world health challenges. This aligns with the institute’s mission of transforming health service delivery through practical, context-based training and research.
We emphasize holistic care—caring not only for the patient but also engaging families and communities. Our students are nurtured to become leaders, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners who uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
As you begin or continue your journey with us, I encourage you to embrace the opportunities available, remain committed to excellence, and strive to make a meaningful impact in the communities you serve.
We look forward to shaping the future of healthcare together.
